Wedding Proposal Trend: “Man-gagement Rings”

Sharing some new and interesting engagement and wedding proposal trends, one has to be intrigued by the wedding proposal trend of “man-gagement” rings. What was that? Yes, you read that correctly, man-gagement rings, an engagement ring for men., The Gentle Manual, Wedding Proposal Trend, Missouri City Texas Wedding Planner, Alpha Prosperity Events

The Gentle Manual

The Gentle Manual – a Handbook for Gentleman & Scoundrels asked the question, “Why should women have all the fun with the bling of a diamond ring?!”  The man-gagement ring, much like the engagement ring is a symbol of commitment, showing dedication to the betrothed. Singer Michael Buble is noted as leading the wedding proposal trend, wearing a man-gagement ring in 2009, to signify that he was off the market.

“FUN FACT: South America has been displaying the pre-wedding bling for years. In Argentina, the bride- and groom-to-be wear silver engagement rings, switching to gold once they actually wed. In Brazil, not only do both men and women wear rings, but the premarital ring and the wedding band are also the same ring. Brazilian engagement rings go on the right hand, and the lovebirds switch their rings to the left hand after tying the knot.” ~FrostYourself

Now the question is, would your man wear a “man-gagement ring?” Do you see this trend catching on? What do you think this trend signifies? Please share your thoughts on the subject. Inquiring minds want to know.

  2. oooh! I like this post! I actually really like the idea. I am always interested in non traditional trends or cultural trends. i don’t think my husband would have went for it but I think it’s a cool idea and interesting topic. -BE

  3. this is new to me, thank you for sharing! I also enjoyed the facts about this ongoing practice for ages in other countries. I personally, don’t see myself proposing to my future Adam!

  4. Awesome post! I love hearing about wedding traditions from other countries and how they get incorporated into Western wedding trends.

  5. Believe it or not, in the UK this is an OLD tradition. My dad has an engagement ring and most men of his age do. They wear them on the fourth finger of their right hand. It’s a tradition that seems to have died out now but would love to see it return.

  6. I think we will see more of this in 2014 – 2015 – it’s a very interesting trend.
